Getting Ready For Fall 2024

“We’ll never be the same again”

Miss Cathy and I sat in her colorful living room a few weeks before the school year began, watching Acton videos, reading document after document graciously put out by other Acton Academy Owners, and dreaming of the year to come. It’s pretty obvious once you start looking at any of the Acton Academy literature, as a parent or as a guide, that you have to be willing to embrace change and challenge if Acton Academy is something you want to pursue.

The onboarding process itself encourages, actually– demands– that you grow as a person as you step into the role of a Guide at an Acton Academy. As Miss Cathy and I paused a 3 minute video for the fourth time to reflect, it sort of hit us that as we both were embarking on this journey, we’d never be the same people again. And how exciting is that?!

It’s easy to find adults who are doing the same things they’ve always done for years and years and years without deviation. I’m sure many of them are happy, but I’m equally sure that many of them probably want something more but don’t know where to begin. Each time Miss Cathy and I met this summer to talk about the vision for Fall 2024 and the Acton Academy model, it sparked an enthusiasm that was palpable. Even without being in the studio yet, even without being in the company of our learners and community, we could feel ourselves growing and changing in wonderful ways.

We’re Ready To Make Acton Academy Eastern Long Island Into The School We’ve Always Believed It Could Be!

While our school has been standing in some iteration or another for the last few years, we head into the 2024-2025 school year with a newfound excitement and a collective goal to mold it into a true representation of Acton Academy. As a staff we have openly talked about, and have learned from our mistakes, our wins, our growth, and our shortcomings, and we have a clear vision for this upcoming year and beyond.

We are so excited for our own Hero’s Journeys, as well as for the journey each learner and their family will take, right alongside ours.
